PETITION for NATO to Adopt the Kyiv Security Compact

PETITION for NATO

to Adopt the Kyiv Security Compact

Russia's brutal invasion in Ukraine has created global instability and threatened security in the European and North American continents.

In 1994,  Russia, the U.S. and the U.K. signed the "Budapest Memorandum" which required Ukraine to give up it's nuclear weapons to Russia in exchange for "loose assurances" instead of concrete security guarantees.

Recently, former President Bill Clinton said he regretted this decision.

We regret it too. If Ukraine was not pressured to transfer it's 1900 nuclear warheads to Russia for reasons which were not actually imminent, the country probably could have avoided massive devastation and a worldwide humanitarian crisis, and the world would probably not face the most dangerous nuclear threat on the planet which is posed by Russia today.

Nearly two decades later, we have seen how "security assurances" have played out. With Russia left unchecked, a mounting conflict has evolved into one of Europe's deadliest wars in modern times, marked by genocide, ecocide, and a looming nuclear catastrophe at the Zaporizhizhia powerplant. More than 10 million peoples have have been displaced from war. Tens of thousands are living in inhumane conditions. And Russia's government, so far, has been able to get away with everything, including the circumvention of most Western sanctions.

It's time we learn from our mistakes in history, and do things differently for a change.

We need security guarantees for Ukraine. Not just for Ukrainians - but for Americans -for our allied partners in NATO - and for our world.

This is not the time for cold feet in politics on topics of security.

It's time to take a stand and solidify global support for Ukraine.

This is exactly what the "Kyiv Security Compact" will deliver. It will hold it's signatories accountable to provide concrete guarantees for the security of Ukraine. It will provide certainty in the years to come, as we attempt to put an end to war, and prevent future bloodshed in Europe.

By adopting the Kyiv Security Compact now, NATO will send a strong message of resolve and unity against the aggressor and for Ukraine’s future. These will be the first such guarantees of the 21st
century and can lay the foundations for a new security order in Europe.

Please sign the petition and share with your friends and family to call on our world leaders for NATO to adopt the "Kyiv Security Compact" during this week in the 2023 Vilnius Summit.
